What Are Dorodango?

Hikaru Dorodango is a Japanese art form where earth, water, and inclusions are handcrafted into a shiny sphere. Not mere objects of beauty, these handcrafted pieces connect you to nature, helping you ground yourself and gain insights into challenges. Spend a few minutes with your dorodango daily to bring clarity to your thoughts and desires, help you focus on your goals, and promote well-being in your life.

Dorodango are often highly figured and textured, adding to their charm. They are also fragile, so please handle with care and keep out of direct sunlight to prevent undesired color fading.

Who is Kevin Kennedy-Spaien?

Kevin Kennedy-Spaien is a Massachusetts-based artist and musician with over 30 years of creative experience. During a period of recovery he turned to the art of Hikaru Dorodango as a form of meditation and mindfulness practice, which he continues to this day.

Kevin crafts each dorodango with locally-foraged ingredients such as nuts, herbs, local soil, and dried moss in addition to sand, water, and clay. Selected dorodango are Reiki-infused with a choice of different characteristics by Kevin’s wife, Eve.
